Akira Toriyama
After graduating from high school, Toriyama began his career at an advertising design company but soon left to pursue his passion for manga. In 1975, he made his debut in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump with the short story Wonder Island. He rose to fame with his smash-hit series Dr. Slump and the legendary Dragon Ball, breaking records and even topping Japan’s annual income ranking for taxpayers at the height of his success. Recognized worldwide as one of the masters of Japanese manga, he continued to inspire generations of artists and fans. Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1, 2024, at the age of 68.
